After the huge success of the last three editions of the Women in Government Conclave, Femme First Foundation organised the fourth edition in Guwahati, Assam. It was the first time ever that such a conclave happened in the NorthEast region
This edition of Women In Government was held from 7th-8th March, at Cotton University, Guwahati, consisting of panel discussions and talks. The broad topics covered were being women in politics, women in the North East, women in governance etc.
The Women in Government conclave began with our Founder, Ms. Angellica Aribam talking about her journey and sharing the inspiration behind Femme First Foundation. A political leader and student activist from North East, she shares how her personal experiences became the motivation for her to provide a platform, amplifying political leadership among women in India.
At the Women In Government Conclave, Guest of Honour: Ms.Archana Varma IAS, Principal Secretary, Govt of Assam spoke about the need to have women as leaders to break mental barriers which women as a community have internalised within themselves.
The inaugural ceremony of the Women in Government Conclave in Guwahati saw began with our Founder Angellica Aribam talking about the organisation, the motivations behind its foundation, journey and what it strives to achieve through various programmes and events of Femme First Foundation. The guest of honour of the event was Ms.Archana Varma IAS, Principal Secretary, Govt of Assam and the special guest was Prof Diganta Das, Registrar, Cotton University.
The inaugural event was followed by an award ceremony to recognise women's effort in Governance, felicitating some prominent women leaders in Assam.
One of the awardees, Dr. M.S Lakshmipriya, Deputy Commissioner, Bongaigoan talked about the challenges faced by women in administration, the dual burned of domestic and professional responsibilities. Expressing gratitude for the women in the her, she highlighted how 'women uplift other women'.
The first panel discussion of the Women In Government Conclave in Guwahati saw women leaders and politicians from diverse parties and backgrounds discuss the gendered experience in politics and the challenges of being women in the Indian political domain. The speakers were Ms.Abhinandita Dayal Mathur, AAP leader & Advisor,Govt. of Delhi; Ms. Angellica Aribam, Founder Femme First Foundation; Ms. Lalitha Kumarmangalam, BJP leader, Director India Foundation; and Ms. Sowmya Reddy, Congress Leader, MLA, Karnataka. The session was moderated by Mr. Karma Paljor, Editor-in-Chief, East Mojo.
Day 2 of the Women In Government Conclave, began with a panel discussion of Women in #NorthEast sharing their experience of excelling in their respective fields and the challenges they faced in terms of gender discrimination, racism etc. The speakers were Dr. Rosie Kalita, Superintendent of Police, Chief Minister’s Special Vigilance Cell, Assam; Ms. Karpum Pegu, Chef & Co-founder, Ricetales; and Ms. Makepeace Sitlhou, Independent Journalist. The session was moderated by Ms. Chitra Ahanthem, Senior Journalist.
The third panel discussion in the Women In Government Conclave on 8th March, Guwahati speakers discussed the prominent role of women in the field of governance and efforts undertaken by women at the grassroots and administrative level to uplift and empower everyone. The penalist included: Ms. Anjana Meghwal, Member, Rajasthan Women's Commission & former Zila Pramukh, Jaisalmer; Ms. Charu Pragya, Media Penalist, BJP; Ms. Pomi Baruah, OSD, National Health Commission, Govt. of Assam. The session was moderated by Ms. Angellica Aribam, Founder, Femme First Foundation.
